How Having A Positive Attitude Can Change So Many Things In Life

For someone like myself, living with an alcohol addiction for so many years, I didn't know the words, "Positive Attitude."

I lived each day with a negative attitude, and feeling sorry for myself because I knew deep inside that I had an addiction to alcohol, but I just didn't want to do anything to change my life. Now being sober, I know how having a positive attitude can change so many things in life.

There is nothing worse than thinking and acting negative.  You will never get anywhere in life with that kind of attitude. It took many years for me to get straightened out in my life, and once I did, Positivity took over, and life looked so much different with my new attitude, not only towards myself, but life itself.

Here are just a few things that changed in my life once I got clean and sober and began thinking and acting with a positive attitude.

  • My entire married life my wife's and my dream was to live by the Ocean, but no matter how hard I tried to make that dream into a reality, nothing worked out.  I truly believe that my addiction to alcohol held me back in so many ways, along with my negativity that came with my addiction.
I got clean and sober in October of 2009, and everything began to work out, and the reason that is, and my beliefs are, that I was not willing to help myself before, and when things didn't work out as I wanted them to, I just drank more figuring alcohol was the fix all. I am now writing this down the street from the Ocean. My dream has now become a reality!

  • My marriage and family life was falling to pieces slow, but sure.
Now sober, I couldn't ask for a better family life and marriage. My best friend, and also my wife stood by my side through thick and thin when I was addicted to alcohol, and now I am proud to say I have sobriety, and we live with nothing but positivity in our lives.  I now realize that your attitude in life can change so many things, for the good or for the bad.

Our attitudes can make or break our lives, so get out of the negative world and start living with that Positive Attitude.  You will be amazed of how your life will change, just by you changing your life, and your attitude towards life.

How Can Sobriety Change My Life?

For anyone that has an addiction to alcohol may often wonder what it would feel like to be sober once again, and may ask them selves and others how can sobriety change my life?

I am here to tell you, that I drank alcohol for many years, and alcohol many times came before all else, including my family and friends.

Once I decided to finally surrender to my demons, and get out of the denial I was living in for so many years, everything began to get better in my life, and if you try the same thing you might find your life will improve also.  The thing is that many alcoholics are simply afraid to quit drinking alcohol for the fear that they might not be able to get along in life without their crutch named alcohol.

Believe me, I did it and so can you my friends.  I feel we all are friends and have the same thing in common which is an addiction to alcohol and just don't know how to stop drinking or are afraid to stop drinking as mentioned above.

Please never be afraid of changing your life for the better.  Sobriety will never hurt you, it's your addiction to alcohol and abuse of it that will kill you in the end, and if it doesn't kill you it will make your life turn upside down and you will then experience rock bottom if you haven't already.

Alcohol does exactly what is suppose to do, and that is to make you feel drunk, act like a ass, hurt people you love, say things that you would never say sober, and so many other things.  Alcohol when drank responsibly is okay in my book, and I wish so bad I could have one drink and just socialize with some friends, but my problem was, I didn't know how to drink responsible and never knew when enough was enough.

This I am sure, is the problem with many people that just don't know how to have a social drink.  It is never enough until you get that buzz your body longs for.

HERE IS HOW SOBRIETY CHANGED MY LIFE.

  • I was a very negative person when I drank alcohol, but now being sober for four years I am now a very positive and healthy person.
  • My social life is now enjoyable being sober, and I act like the real me, and not a fake and a drunk.
  • My family life is excellent and my marriage has improved so much.
  • I spend quality time now with my wife and family, when before I spent my time drinking at bars or drinking alone.
  • My appearance has improved 100%.
  • I lost 50 pounds by not drinking all that beer each and everyday of my life.
  • I eat great now and have plenty of energy to do what I want each day.
  • I can go out in my car anytime I please without worrying about being pulled over and giving a DUI for drinking and driving.
  • I have fulfilled my life long dream of living at the Ocean, when before when I drank, I still wanted that dream to come true, but alcohol held my back from achieving that dream.
  • I never wake up anymore with that horrible massive hangover.

Listen everyone, I am not here writing to piss off people or preach to everyone.  I just want to tell all those that will listen, that there is a great life out there after an addiction, and not to be afraid to change your life.

Just think, you can save your own life just by making that change in your life.  It really isn't that hard if you have that will, determination and that positive attitude to get and stay sober.  GRANTED, there will be those that need to enter a Rehabilitation Center, and that is the smart thing to do, for sure.  To be treated and cared for by Professionals. Get Sober the safe and healthy way!

For myself, I went cold turkey and was worried every minute of everyday wondering will anything happen to me. Will I get the DT's and get deathly sick?  Don't put yourself through that, do it right, but first off, you MUST want to have sobriety in your life before all else works.

You are the only one that can make sobriety happen in your life and nobody else.  It is up to you, and you alone to make that choice to change, and to make a new life, not only for you, but your family as well.

Get out of denial and make up your mind to surrender once and for all.  You need to take that first step and all others steps will follow.  One step and one day at a time. You will reach the top of those steps before you know it.

Why Is It So Hard To Stop Drinking Alcohol

There are millions of people in the world that drink alcohol.  Some can handle their alcohol and then there are some that just get addicted and wind up abusing alcohol.

For those that got addicted to the booze and want to stop drinking often ask them self, "why is it so hard to stop drinking alcohol?"

I know for a fact, trying to stop drinking alcohol is a very hard thing to overcome since you have been drinking and abusing it for so long.  Somewhere deep down inside us (the alcoholic) wants to live a life of sobriety, but the alcohol that has been in our life for so long wants no part of leaving our bodies.  The demons are settled in us, and very content as long as we feed them the daily dose of alcohol.

But, watch out if we decide to slow down or simply stop drinking all together. That would really piss off the demons inside each alcoholic, and they will put your body through the tortures of hell.  We all know how we feel if we stop drinking.  I know that I felt like crap for sometime, but I keep telling myself that I can and will beat this addiction to alcohol I have.

Any alcoholic can do the same if that is what you want in your life.  Many alcoholics are very content with drinking alcohol everyday of their lives and don't care what the consequences will be in the future.

If you truly love yourself, you will not put your body through this painful thing we call alcohol addiction.  You can stop drinking if you want to!  You are the one that is in full control of the one and only body you have.

Give your life a second chance and just try to stop drinking and see how your life will begin to turn around as mine did back in 2009.

A would recommend highly to seek Professional Help if you do decide to stop drinking.  You have to detox the right and safe way.  It will be very dangerous if you try to stop drinking on your own as I did.  I made up my mind to quit drinking back in October 2009 and simply went cold turkey.  Yes I was scared to death for things I heard about going cold turkey and the dangers of doing so.

I took upon my own to do it anyway regardless of the outcome.  Why, because I was afraid to go to any Doctor or Rehab. Center for the worry of what they may say to me regarding my long relationship with alcohol. I even thought to myself, "it just might too late to heal my body and live a sober life."

With that said, I chose to go Cold Turkey anyway.  I took a huge change and worried every minute of the day and night, wondering if something horrible was going to happen to me.  Will I get sick by not detoxing the correct and safe way? I was a nervous wreck I must say.

Once I made it through the first week or so without a drink, and my nerves started to get a little better, I knew I could make it and change my life.

So Lets Get Back To The Main Question Of Why Is It So Hard For You To Stop Drinking Alcohol?

  • Is it that you are simply not ready to stop drinking?
  • Is it that you don't know how you will survive without alcohol in your body?
  • Is it that you feel that your drinking friends will look down at you because you stopped drinking?
  • Is it that you feel you would have no more fun at parties or any kind of functions?
  • What is stopping you from changing your life?
  • There must be something holding you back from living a life of sobriety.
  • You must know the answer of why it is so hard to quit drinking.
  • Are you simply afraid of living clean and sober because you have been drinking for so long?
Stopping drinking is not as hard as most people make it to be.  I thought I would never in a million years be clean and sober again, but I sure fooled myself.  If you want something bad enough in life you will achieve it, and that includes your sobriety.

The only thing holding you back from sobriety is, you and you alone.  You make the call my friends.  I guess it depends on whether or not you wish to live or die.

Does that word DIE frighten you?  It should.  We all were given a gift of life and many of us chose to ruin the one and only life we have with the addiction to alcohol and drugs.

Life is precious and we should start to cherish our life a little more than we do.  Get sober and get healthy again.  Live the life you were given in a clean and sober way, and stop making excuses of why it is so hard to quit drinking.

Put your mind to it and it will happen.  Think positive and act positive and you will see results, and that includes anything in life.  Negativity will get you nowhere in life, but pure depression.

It is not hard to stop drinking.  I did it and so can you!  The only way to stop drinking alcohol is to JUST STOP!  It is that simple.  Now, make up your mind to get sober and do it.  Time is wasting away, and your life clock is ticking away as you hesitate on getting sober and finding your sobriety.

Things To Do To Stop The Temptation To Drink Alcohol

Temptation is in every ones life one way or another, but for the alcoholic that is trying to stay sober temptation is their worse fear.  Here are some of the things to do to stop the temptation to drink alcohol from my own experiences.

When I decided to quit drinking alcohol, deep in the back of my mind I always feared that the temptation to drink alcohol would always be there.  I asked myself, "how would I be able to ever go to another party where there is alcohol being served."  "Will I have to stay away from all my drinking buddies?"

These thoughts will forever be embedded in my mind, but in order to stay sober, I must be stronger than my temptation and the urge to drink.  After many months of being sober I tried my luck at going to a party with alcohol being served.  I knew I would be tempted, but I also knew I couldn't just hide the rest of my life from those that do drink alcohol.

I took the chance and I was completely fine.  There was no temptation or the urge to drink, and why is that you might ask?  The reason that I had no temptation or urge to drink alcohol was because I prepared my mind in a positive way to deal with what I was about to do, which was mingle with those that were drinking alcohol.

Your mind is a powerful tool that we all have.  It is just the matter if you choose to use this powerful tool to benefit you and your life. When you have a positive outlook in life you will be able to achieve anything you want including your sobriety.

If by chance you do get the temptation to drink, stop what you are doing for a minute and look back in time to remember just how hard you have worked on getting and staying sober.  Think of what will happen if you took that first sip of alcohol.  Do you think you could do it and set the drink down and never pick it up again?  I bet not, because if it were me I would be doomed and right back at the alcohol as my demons greet me back into the their world of hell.  I have a feeling that many alcoholics would say the same about them self.  So, just be strong and have that determination to stay sober. Be stronger than your addiction or you will be so sorry your addiction came back into your life again.  I know I would be.

I can't even imagine letting our demons take back over our lives again after being clean and sober for so long, but it does indeed happen to many of people that are addicted to, not only alcohol, but drugs as well.

All of us need to keep that positive attitude and not let our past addictions take over our lives again.  We all need to be stronger than our addictions and keep telling ourselves that no matter what happens in our lives we will never pick up that alcohol beverage again, and you must be firm about this promise to yourself.

Staying sober is indeed a hard thing to do, but it is only as hard as you make it.  Remember, sobriety will never hurt you or kill you, BUT your addiction to drugs and alcohol WILL hurt you and sooner or later kill you one way or another.  So just think before you drink and don't let the temptation and urge to drink ruin the life of sobriety you worked so hard to get.

How A Positve Attitude Helps With Getting Sober

Have you any idea how a positive attitude helps with getting sober?  For many people that are suffering from an addiction to alcohol sobriety and getting sober is the last thing on their mind.  Why, you may ask?  When an alcoholic has been drinking for so many years they forget just how sobriety and being clean and sober feels.

They have a hard time with excepting that they may have an addiction problem, and don't what to admit that they are living in denial and think nothing of drinking and partying, just like it is the way of life for everyone.  Well everyone in our society and in our world drink and abuse alcohol to the point of getting addicted to it.

When I finally said, "enough is enough" and surrendered to my addiction to alcohol is when I realized that a positive attitude has had a huge impact on my sobriety and has helped me to get sober and using that positive attitude continues to keep me sober as well.

Can you imagine walking around with that chip on your shoulder and thinking nothing but negative thoughts, saying why me?  How in the world can anyone get sober thinking negative and telling them self that they will never be able to kick their addiction and get clean and sober. Thinking is this manner no one will ever get sober.

Just think about it.  Negative thoughts give negative results and positive thoughts give positive results.  Sound right to me, how about you?

I can certainly say from my experience with drinking alcohol, and then getting sober, that my positive attitude helped me to get sober, and without thinking this way I would still be stuck in my little world of my own addiction and self destruction.  Our minds, and we all have one I might add, can and will do anything you tell it to.  If you want to live in a world of addiction and telling yourself you will never get sober than that is exactly what your life will be.

Now, lets turn the coin and say you are thinking nothing but positive thoughts and thinking with that positive attitude telling yourself that you can and will get and stay sober no matter what it takes to achieve your sobriety.  Which of the two attitudes do you think will work the best for you?  I have my answer, how about you, do you have your answer?  I think the answer is a no brainier in my opinion.

What Steps Are Needed To Getting Clean And Sober

There are so many people that have an addiction to alcohol in our world today.  Sad to say, but so very true.  You have no idea just how many people suffer from alcoholism and want a better life , but have no idea how to go about getting that life of sobriety.

They are caught up in the world of addiction with nowhere to turn, or should I say, they choose not to change for the fear of how their life would be without their crutch.

What steps are needed to getting clean and sober?

Step #1 -  First and most important, the alcoholic needs to want to be clean and sober and not get sober because someone is forcing it on them.  They have to want sobriety so bad that they are willing to do anything to get their life back on track and get sober.

Step #2 - They have to get out of the denial they have been living in and finally admit to them self that they are indeed an alcoholic and need help to get clean and sober.  I think once the alcoholic admits there is a huge problem with them and their family life, in which is totally effected by the actions of the addicted person, things will begin to make more sense of why they should try their hardest to surrender to their addiction to alcohol.

Step #3- They have to look at their life and how they are living it in comparison to the way they lived before getting addicted to this horrible addiction we call alcoholism.  They must see for themselves that they are destroying their bodies and their family as well.

Step#4 - They need to visualize how their life can be living it sober.  Once they can see that their future can be brighter they may then just surrender to their addiction to alcohol.  All they have to do is to look around them and see for them self who is avoiding them.  People that may have been close friends and falling distant because of the poor life style the alcoholic has could be the reason they steer away and avoid being around the alcoholic. The alcoholic can surely see that something is missing in their life and without changing their life they might just lose everything they have over time including their own life.  Addictions are nothing to mess with.  It is like holding a loaded gun and playing Russian Roulette.  Sooner or later you will pull the trigger and the one single bullet in the chamber will be fired.

Step#5-  The alcoholic needs to take a good hard look at their spouse and children a see just how his/her addiction is also effecting them and ruining their lives as well.  You really have to be blind not to see that your bad habits effect many people, not only yourself.

Step #6- The alcoholic needs to change his/her outlook in life and stop feeling sorry for them self and start doing something about it and then take massive action to get sober if they truly want to be free of their addiction once and for all.  Sobriety is out there for all.  It will not come to you.  You need to go after it and shut down the demons inside of you that run and ruin all those addicted in time.  The only way to beat you addiction is to SURRENDER to it.

Step#7- Tell yourself and promise yourself that you will never pick up another alcoholic drink the rest of your life.  If you can hold true to this promise to yourself then you are serious about getting clean and sober.  So now, all you have to do is to JUST DO IT and don't look back.  Run as fast as you can from your addiction.  Never be weak and let your demons back into your life no matter what happens, whether it be bad or good.  Don't back down or give in because something may have happened to upset you and feel as if you need to drink to fix the problem because believe me it won't work.

Step#8- Keep a Positive Attitude towards get sober.  Believe in yourself.  Tell yourself no matter what happens in your life you WILL NOT relapse. Stay strong.  Keep determined to stay clean and sober forever.  Stay busy physically and mentally.  Take up a hobby that you are interested in.  Spend quality time with your family. If you feel uneasy at a party that is serving alcohol, don't go!  Stay clear of all those that are still drinking alcohol and partying. ( These people just may try and shame you into drinking again, but don't give in.)  Just walk away and say NO THANKS.  You know those words, "MISERY LOVES COMPANY"  Don't be the company.  Be stronger than your addiction and with all this and the determination and desire to get and stay sober you should have no problem getting clean and sober.  It's all in the mind and that mind you have can do miraculous things if you let it, so lets get sober and stay sober!!

A Positive Attitude Can Change Your Life

Many people in our society today are not very positive at all, and I truly believe that our economy and the people out of work is a huge part of it.

Do you know how a positive attitude can change your life?  Lets think here.  Say if you walked around everyday with a negative attitude.  Do you really think things will go your way thinking in this manner?  How can you expect things to go well in your life if you are not living with a Positive Attitude?

Positivity in any ones life can do wonders and really change so much in your everyday life.  I can understand just how so many people are negative and for good reason, but you can't let things bring you down as hard as it may be.  You need to continue to at least give it your best shot and start thinking in a Positive way and just maybe by doing so things will start to look up for you.

Your mind is a powerful tool, and you and I can change how we think and feel just be changing our outlook on life and getting out of the Negative world we live in.

You may say, "how in the world can I be happy and think positive when there are so many things against me?"  The trick here is to try your hardest to make those things that are bringing you down and making you a negative person a reality, meaning, work hard to resolve the problem and change it into something positive.  Figure out what you can do to make things better in your life.

If you are unemployed, then go everywhere and look for that job.  Go on the Internet and search for employment.  It may not be what you want at the present time, but something is better than nothing for the time being.  At least you will have some income coming in until you land that job you really want.  Sure it is hard out there and you may just have to take a job that you are really not fond of, but it is only temporary.  Finding a job and having income will help you realize  that there is hope and you will feel good about yourself that you are working.

You may have a sickness in your family, and I certainly can relate to that and it sure will make you a negative person because you feel helpless for the person that is ill, BUT never ever give up hope.  Stay positive and keep thinking that your loved one will soon get better.  Believe in our Lord because he does preform miracles, but you must stay positive and believe in him.  The power of prayer is a strong thing, so if you don't pray then I would advise you start to do so and you will see just how the power of prayer works. Things will not always work out the way you would want them to, but being positive and believing will help tremendously.

So if you feel negative and down, just try your hardest to change your attitude and start thinking positive.  By doing so you may be surprized just how thinking with a positive attiude can change your life. It did for me and I couldn't be happier.

How To Live A Simple Yet Happy Life

All of us know that there is nothing simple in life, or is there?  I have learned over the past two years that less is more and I will continue to live life thinking and acting that way.  I always knew that saying , but never put it into action in my own life.

How to live a simple yet happy life is really up to each and everyone of us, and if that is the lifestyle you wish to live by.  For many of people they wish to live high on the hog, as they say, but living this way and knowing you may not be able to afford this type of lifestyle, could very well put you in a financial situation that maybe very difficult to get out of.  I know this because a time in my life I was in that same boat and was drowning in debt.

I wanted things and bought things that I thought I could afford, but knew deep down that I couldn't.  This never stopped me from getting what I wanted.  The banks make it so easy to get loans as long as you were willing to pay the high interest rates in which I didn't care about because I wanted what I wanted and never thought of the consequences to pay the loans back.

At that time I also had one other problem and that was, I was addicted to alcohol in which made me make poor decisions and made me think irrational.

When you make poor decisions in life they will indeed catch up to you and make your life very miserable because those thoughts and decisions you made before.  These poor decisions need to be dealt with and corrected in order to be happy again and get your life back on track.

After I surrendered to my addiction to alcohol I started to think better and make better decisions in my life and one of those decisions were to get out of debt and live a happy life again and not worry about where the money was going to come from to pay for all those stupid purchases I did years before.

Once I got clean and sober I was then able to start to plan this huge change in my life, with of course, the help of my wife that stuck by my side through all the ups and downs in our marriage all do to my addiction.  I praise her for standing by my side through these tough times.

Now it was up to me to make things better. The way they should of been all those years in the past.

IDEAS FOR YOU TO LIVE A SIMPLE LIFE
  • Remember that less is more is most cases, although many people may argue with that statement. It is my thoughts and the way I now live my life, and it has worked out perfect.
  • Get rid of all the things you really don't need and start cleaning and throwing away.
  • Think if you can do without different things to make life simpler.
  • Start paying down extra on your bills to get them paid in full sooner.
  • As far as transportation, do you really need that expensive car or truck?  I bought a car cash, because after all I only need it to get from point A to point B.
  • Think of things while grocery shopping that really are not necessary to buy.
  • All these things I mentioned save money and when you save money by cutting down you can live more simple (and don't need to break your back working for the rest of your life to pay those bills for the fun and the prestige for things I really didn't need to be happy in my life.)
  • Many people reading may think I'm nuts, BUT I have done all of this and I am a stone throw away from being debt free, and that is a wonderful feeling.  So call me nuts, but I have no financial worries anymore.  I live simple and I am happier than I have ever been.  I now realize that material things mean nothing, although they are is a sign of prestige for many, but not me anymore.
  • As I said in other articles, I sold my home and downsized big time to a manufactured home in a 55+ community minutes from the Ocean with the Bay right down the street.  It was my life long dream to live by the sea and with my addiction to alcohol and the way I lived in the past it would never be possible to have what I have now and the best part is, everything is paid in full and now I can relax and enjoy my life with no more worries of paying or having things I really never needed, just to impress others.
So if you would like to live a simple life and still be happy it is very possible.  I never thought I would be living so simple and yet still be happy, but I am, and the change in my life by quitting drinking alcohol and downsizing my life is certainly the best thing I could ever have done.  The only thing you need is to have the willingness, the desire and the guts to make that change and believe me it can happen if you truly want it to.

Alcoholism Is a Choice

We as individual people get to choose what we want out of life , but some of us choose the wrong direction in our lives.  As far as drinking alcohol and abusing it, I would say that alcoholism is a choice.

I chose to drink alcohol like many of us do and no one forced me into drinking, I did it all on my own.  I was the one that chose to self destruct myself and almost ruin my life and my family.  I chose to drink and I paid the consequences in the end.

I was fortunate enough that my alcohol addiction did not make me ill enough to be hospitalize, but as far as everything else, it just started to fall to pieces a little at a time until I basically hit rock bottom.  I buried our lives in debt and found it very hard to get out.

No one made me do anything.  I was the only person that listened to my alcohol demons that took over my life and body.  I blame no one, but myself.

Now for the big thing, to be able to get out of something I put myself into, and that was my addiction to alcohol. It was my choice to drink alcohol, (as it is yours and everyone else) that has become addicted to a substance that can and will ruin your life in time, if not drank responsibly.

I chose alcohol over my family and my own health and life and now it was time to surrender to my addiction no matter what it took to get and stay clean and sober.

If you are one of the ones that became addicted to alcohol and alcoholism has taken over your life, I have to say never give up on yourself.  If you want to be clean and sober then start taking action to change your life around and live it like it should be lived, and that is sober and happy.

If you want to be sober than the first step is to admit you are an alcoholic and you want and need help to get sober.  Ask for the help you need and never be embarrassed of your addiction, because what is inside you, your demons, have simply taken over your life and the only way to get rid of them once and for all is to surrender too them and start living a clean and sober life.

I thought is would be so hard to surrender to my demons, but believe it or not, it really wasn't that bad. I have been clean and sober now two years. I had it in my mind from the very beginning that I would achieve sobriety no matter what it took, and nothing or anyone would stand in my way of getting clean and sober.  Once you have it in your mind like I did, and you are serious about quitting drinking alcohol, you will conquer your addiction.

You have to have the determination, the willingness and a strong desire to get clean and sober and with  these things and keeping a positive attitude you will indeed find sobriety as I did.

I was your choice to drink alcohol and it is your choice to get get clean and sober.  The bottom line is, THE CHOICE IS YOURS AND NO ONE ELSE."

Living With A Positive Attitude

Thinking, acting and living with a positive attitude can change your life in so many ways.  Positivity in ones life is so important in order to live a quality and happy life.

So many people nowadays are so negative in many ways, such as thinking they will never make it in today's world because of financial reasons, relationship reasons and just the stress of everyday life. This is not the way to think if you want to get anywhere in life or fulfill that long time dream you might have.

I'd like to share a small part of my life with you by telling you that I once was a bit of a negative person back in my drinking days.  Nothing ever seemed to go right for me no matter how I tried or what I did.  The reason was I didn't have that positive attitude in my mind.

You can't expect any good out of life when living with negativity.  Once I decided to quit drinking alcohol, everything seemed to start looking better in my life, meaning I had a whole new outlook on my life and life in general.

Having a positive attitude in life really means a world of difference, at least it does for me.  I can't imagine living in a negative world anymore because ever since I quit drinking alcohol and started to live life with a positive attitude everything has changed for the better.

I always wanted to live by the sea for the 30 years I have been married and it never came true for the simple reason I had something standing in my way of my dream and that was my addiction to alcohol.  It made me NOT think proper and I made hasty and bad decisions for many years financially which ruined my dream more than once.

I wanted the best, but was not willing to change my life in order to get the best all because I put alcohol in front of everything and sometimes even my own family.

So the point I am trying to make is that if you truly want something in your life and you are having a hard time achieving it, maybe a change of attitude may help, as it helped me.  I changed my life around and surrendered to my addiction and then began to think straight and positive.

My dream finally came true and I am living my dream sober and by the sea.  Sometimes it takes a long time to realize what you are doing is wrong, such as being addicted to alcohol for myself, but as I said, you have to help yourself in order to make things in life a reality.

How And When Should We Take Action Of Our Addiction

When someone is addicted to drugs or alcohol they seem to forget the true meaning of their life and let their addiction take their life over.  The question is how and when should we take action of our addiction before it is too late?

The thing is, if we continue on this path of self destruction how long do you think we would be alive, and how many years of our lives do you think would be cut short because of our actions and lifestyle?  We are not going to live forever as we all know, but why in the world do we continue to kill ourselves with an avoidable addiction?

Everyone knows what these addictions can and will do to us, but no one knows exactly when.  It could be that our health fails.  It could be that we were involved in a automobile accident that may have disabled us forever or possibly kill us or an innocent person or persons.

When should we take action on these addictions we have before it is too late?  What has to happen to us before we realize we are doing wrong by abusing our bad habits, whether it be drinking alcohol or using drugs?

In my personal experience with drinking alcohol, and drinking it for many years, I have learned that my life was going no where fast.  Everything I wanted to do, or a dream I might of had always seemed to peter out because I would stumble upon a road block in my quest of doing something and just simply gave up.

I had no self-esteem and no positive attitude in my life while being addicted to alcohol.  I thought, as probably many alcoholics do that everyone in the world is wrong and the alcoholic is right, meaning, we the alcoholic thinks we are doing no wrong and we do not have an addiction to alcohol.  We live in denial each and everyday, but really have no idea that we are.  I called it , "blinded by my addiction."

How to take action is very simple and how I did it was to simply make up my mind and told myself, "enough is enough" it is time to surrender to my addiction to alcohol and start to live a clean and sober life again.I changed my attitude and my outlook on life and told myself, " my life is worth far more to me than an avoidable and foolish addiction.  My life is precious and I only have one of them so I better make the best of the time I have left here on earth."

When is the time to take action depends on each person, and just how depended they are on their drug of choice.  If you think you have a problem with alcohol or drugs then I would recommend sitting down and take a good look at your life, what you are doing to your one and only body and what effects you are having on your \families lives as well.  Just maybe if you care about our self and your family you will begin to see the light that being addicted to anything has no positive results whatsoever.

Without taking action in anything in life you will remain stuck where you are for the rest of your life and never be able to enjoy what life has to offer, (seeing it with sober eyes.)

  1. Think positive.
  2. Stay focused on getting sober and staying sober.
  3. Believe in yourself and God.
  4. Never let anything or anybody get in your way to becoming sober.
  5. Steer clear of your alcoholic friends to avoid temptation to drink or use.
  6. Ask for the HELP you need to start you on your road to recovery.
  7. Don't be embarrassed or a shamed of your addiction and tell everyone you are surrendering to it.
  8. Keep yourself busy so that you have no time to think about your past addiction.
  9. Eat well and healthy foods.
  10. Drink lots of water and drinks that are healthy which will help in flushing those toxins out of your system.
These are just a few things I did when I decided to get clean and sober and maybe you will find some things that will help you and add them to my list.

* I am not a Doctor or Therapist by no means, but I do have experience in drinking and abusing alcohol with makes me a professional in that part !

Sobriety is a wonderful thing.  I just wished I would of surrendered years ago when my children were growing up, but as they say, "better later than never."

God Bless all those that are struggling with an addiction, and remember, you are not alone.  Never give up on yourself.  You can and will get clean and sober as I did.  The big thing is taking ACTION,  having the WILLPOWER, DETERMINATION and the DESIRE to get sober and stay sober, and it will happen.

Drinking Beer

Oh yes, the hot and steaming days of summer. One can not wait for that ice cold frosted mug of beer after a hard days work.

Why do most people go for the beer after working in the heat,or for some of us,just for the heck of it? Watching or going to a sports game we need to bring along our beer.

Having a picnic or outside party, what goes along with that, is beer. Going out on a boat for a nice afternoon cruise and the beer comes along with us.

We decide to go on a camping trip, so we pack the clothing that we will need for our trip. Get all the food and supplies ready to go. Get the tent or our camper packed up and don't forget the coolers for all the beer we will be drinking while camping and fishing.

Having a birthday party, wedding or even a First Communion, don't forget about putting the beer on the menu for all to enjoy. Beer seems to be a very popular thing to many of us when planing just about anything.

It seems to me that beer goes with just about everything in our everyday lives and seems to rank close to all the other things we need in life.

I was one that loved drinking my beer for many years too. It has that effect after so many. The effect that sometimes over powers our minds. Don't get me wrong beer is tasty after that day of work, and just sit down and crack that can or bottle open and that first sip tastes like drinking gold in a can.

There is nothing wrong with having a couple of beers after a hard days work or just chilling out watching a ball game with the guys, but some of us including myself just don't when to quit drinking. Starting out with just a couple beers then lead to a drinking frenzy.

Some of us just get carried away with the drinking and don't stop until the supply is gone. That's the problem with drinking alcohol whether being beer or spirits.

We all intend to have just a couple of drinks but as the day or night goes on the alcohol continues unless you have the willpower to call it quits for the day. Some people just don't know how to say to someone that they have had enough beer and call it quits for the day or evening.

Then there are those how yell out "hey grab me another one of those beers will you."

There is now harm having a couple of drinks, but you must learn when enough is enough and just drink reponsable. Don't ever forget DO NOT EVER DRINK AND DRIVE!

Crucifixion To Resurrection Of An Alcoholic-My Easter Story 2010

People like myself, who have been drinking alcohol for the good part of our lives have many stories that we can tell of our experiences, being good or bad.

I, myself can say that I have had many good experiences when I was young, such as going on boat trips with my dad and friends.  But, that was just partying with the guys.  I was too young then to even know what the future would bring due to the early years of partying with alcohol.

I never knew what this alcohol could do.  I continued to drink everyday leading myself to an unfortunate addiction to the booze.  If I were to know the consequences in my future I would have thought twice before the partying began.

No one knows what our future will bring, only time will tell.  My time ran out due to being addicted so bad that at times I would only think of the drink and nothing else, even my own family would not matter.

It didn't matter what anyone would say about my drinking, I just didn't care.

I never knew that I was heading down to Rock Bottom, or should I say The Crucifixion of my life.  I was self-destructing myself and could not see it until one day, and that day turned my life around forever.

My wife made a statement to me one day that really hit home and made me take a hard look at the life I now lead.

I immediately started to think of how I am going to make this huge change in my life to the better.

The alcohol has ruined my life and held me back on many things I have wanted to do through my life.

With this change I was about to do, I will be able to now focus on My Resurrection of my life, or should I say to be born again with a new Clean and Sober Life.

When I made my mind up to make this change, I started off with the most important thing, which was a Positive Attitude.  In doing so, this attitude gave me the Willingness and the Strength to be able to take my final ride down Recovery Road.

Alcohol Tolerance - It Can Sneak Up On You Quick

Remember the old days, or for some of us now, how we felt after our first Alcoholic drink?  We felt like we where floating on a cloud.  But, our body was not used to that strange liquid in our system.

I remember my first.  A friend of mine stole a beer from his parents refrigerator and we shared that one beer.  What we did was to use a straw to drink out of, only because someone said it would give you a quick buzz.  After we finished the beer we then ran around to get the alcohol moving faster into our body.  Sounds funny right, but it did work, at least we thought so.

So,  we did our experiment  and we where satisfied with the results.  That was the end of our drinking day at a young age, So we thought.

As we get older and the times of our lives get tougher, we tend to lean on different things to get our stress out. Some may turn to Drugs and some my turn to Alcohol.  Either way, both will do the same harm to us over time.

When we do start to abuse our bodies with these things, we start off lightly and slowly, because we don't know how it will affect us in the beginning.  Some of us have gotten very sick, including myself, when we have drank to much, and didn't realize just how fast the alcohol would sneak up on us.  So, we say to ourselves, that's it for me, no more drinking for me.

After a day or so, we say, well I feel a lot better now, so I guess I'll have a drink or so.  We get to the number of that drink that put us under a day ago, and realized nothing has happened.  No throwing up, No feeling sick.  So, we then continue to drink until we get to that sick point again, and then call it quits for the night.

This goes on and on as our Alcohol Tolerance gets higher and higher.  As for me, this has happened as I'm sure million of other people feel the same.

As our Tolerance builds higher, we can hang in their with the best of the drinkers.  For myself, nothing to be proud of for sure.

So, for me, to finally be Sober again everyday of my life is a Blessing.  But, if we never started to use Drugs or Alcohol in the first place, then, the word Addiction would never be in our vocabulary.

Keeping A Positive Attitude Towards Your Journey To Sobriety

Well, It has been 92 days, Clean and Sober. It really feels great to me.  I never thought in a million years I would be on this journey to Sobriety, only because it was a everyday routine for me, just like waking up and brushing your teeth. It was part and my day, and a big part of my life. Everything I did had to revolve around drinking.  It has been a long time coming.

I have finally admitted to myself that I have a "Alcohol Addiction" that has to be dealt with in a careful manner. First I must be ready to give up the demons on my own, and I am sure ready for that now. I had to prepare myself for the fight of my life. I didn't want to do the "slow down a little at a time routine", like some people do. I knew that I was not that kind of a person that can have one or two drinks and call it the night. No, my body keep asking for more, and I fed it, till I had enough.  The only way to accomplish this addiction for me is to go Cold Turkey, which is what I did. I was worried about the side effects, that people would say might happen. With the help of God, nothing at all happened to me.  So, I proved that their theory was wrong about slowing down a little at a time, at least for me, Cold Turkey worked.  You have to grab the devil by the horns and put up a good fight, until you win for good. They will try and try to get back into your life. You have to be strong, and push them away no matter how hard it is. Don't ever tilt the bottle up again, because if you do, you will be right back where you started and maybe worse than before.

During the first week I did have the desire for a drink, but keep saying to myself, don't let the demon's win.  My mind keep telling me, you are much stronger then the addiction you are fighting, and do not give in. After the first week went by I said, man that was a fast week, then I started counting the days with not a drink. It is like a game I play now, to keep adding the days and rewarding myself for what I have accomplished in a short time.

One day, I thought to myself , I haven't thought about a drink at all today.  It was like I never drank, it simply just disappeared  out of my body and mind.  I felt as if the world was lifted off my shoulders, or I just got released from jail. It was a kinda empty feeling, just like if you were to loss a family member to death. Although, it was a good empty feeling that I had. I felt Free At Last, now I can do anything I want. Before, after I started drinking for the day or evening, I was then a prisoner in my own home, I say that because, I never would drink and drive, so if I needed something after drinking I would have to ask someone to get it for me. That did not go very well in my household.

Now, I am free to come and go as I please, with not a worry in the world, all because, I had a
Positive Attitude from the very beginning of my journey to Sobriety.

How To Go Sober With Mind Over Matter

Three months ago, I faced the biggest  challenge of my life, "To Go Sober". I made my mind up, that I have had enough of the alcohol abuse, and the pain that I caused to myself and family. This was a huge decision I had to make, and I had better make it quick before everything totally falls to pieces.

My first thought was that I have to get a game plan, on how I  was going to tackle this long journey to sobriety. With a lot of thinking ,things started to come to me quite easy, do to the fact that I started with a "positive attitude" and I truly wanted to be sober this time, because the last time I tried, I did not do to well and fell off the wagon for one reason or another.  I really didn't have my whole heart into it the first time.  I was young and just wanted to party with my friends. As years went by, and I got older, I started to see how alcohol was affecting me and my life. It was a big wake up call, all I had to do is to look in the mirror and it said it all. No one had to say anything to me, it said it all right in the mirror. As we all know, mirrors and pictures don't lie.

This was the start for me to first change what I saw in the mirror and to change my life and my addicting habits.I said, I"m going to try this on my own and just bite the bullet and go Cold Turkey. I knew that it may cause some complication, but I prayed a lot for this not to happen, and believe it or not, I didn't have one problem at all. God gave me the will power and the strength to get through that hurdle. I truly believe that anyone can conquer anything if you just put your mind to it and keep a "positive attitude" in what you are trying to do. You have to be Strong and Want It Bad , and it will happen for you.

The first two or three days I had thoughts of the drink, but I prepared my mind for this situation in the beginning, because I knew it was going to be hard in the very beginning for me.  We are all stronger than we think, as far as the mind goes.  We can add habits into our brain, some good, and then, those bad habits.  But if we can add them into our brain then we can also erase them just as fast, if you have the will power and the strength to not let the demons take over your body and mind again. God gave us a great gift, the Gift of Life, and I am going to enjoy that gift. It's never to late to change, I did, and I'm loving every minute of it.

It makes you feel good when you know that you have complete control of your body and mind, and to know that no nasty habit can control you any more. I just keep thinking positive and think of all the dreams I have, that I could not accomplish while being controlled by the addiction I had.

Think of what you really want in life, and if you stand strong to yourself you can achieve what ever you want.
I know, I"m on my way to the Dreams I once had, and hopefully be able to help someone that's trying to Go Sober like I did. You will never be sorry you did!
Celebrate...    "The Clean Life"  that is waiting for you!

The trick to this is very simple, Prepare Your Mind, and Go Sober With Mind Over Matter.
