Do You Have Depression Knowing That You Are An Alcoholic

Many people that drink too much alcohol, or even abuse alcohol often have depression as I did when I drank too much alcohol.

The question is to all those folks is, "do you have depression knowing that you are an alcoholic?"

In my personal experience with drinking alcohol, and abusing it every single day was that I really thought by drinking alcohol I would be happier and all my problems would disappear by drinking those problems away. In fact, by drinking too much alcohol those once small problems began to seem larger and the more I drank the more depressed I would get. Does this sound familiar to you?  I bet for some it really does.

The photo above shows me just how life can be living it sober, meaning, we all live in a world that has beauty all around us and many of us that are alcoholics never even realize just how beautiful the world is looking at it through addicted eyes. Just looking at that photo, how could you and I be so depressed when we have beauty right in front of our eyes if we live that life clean and sober.  The alcohol that we drink thinking life will be so much better blinds us in seeing and feeling the beauty of life.

Depression is a horrible thing when you think your world is falling apart around you.  Drinking and abusing alcohol does not help the matter whatsoever.  I believe it just makes you more depressed knowing that you are an alcoholic and you don't know what to do to get out of the rut you are in, and start living a healthy and happy life.  You may want help to stop drinking alcohol, but may be ashamed or embarrassed to ask for the help you need.

So, what is your next step in finding your sobriety, that is if you are serious about getting and staying sober, and you want to get out of the depression you have and start living a happy life once again.

If you know you are an alcoholic, and you want to have sobriety back into your life you need to sit down with yourself (being sober) and ask yourself how bad do you want to get and stay sober.

Are you willing enough to say goodbye to alcohol and be able to promise yourself you will never pick up an alcoholic drink ever again?  If you can't make that promise to yourself then I think you are not ready to stop drinking alcohol just yet, but if you can say yes, I am ready to surrender once and for all (like I did over three years ago) then you are on the right track and have taken that very important first step to finally having peace in your life and will no longer feel depressed that you are an alcoholic.

I guess you can say you and I will always be an alcoholic, but we are both in recovery and leading a healthy and happy life.  Just remember the demons are just waiting for us to cheat, give in, or relapse so they (the alcohol demons) can take control over our bodies and minds once again.

Don't be weak and give in to them.  They are powerless without the feed of alcohol, so just don't give them what they are starving for.

  • We need to have a positive attitude at ALL TIMES.
  • We need to believe in ourselves.
  • We need to love ourselves enough to not go back on our promise to never drink again.
  • We need a strong desire, determination and the willingness to get and stay sober.
  • We need to ask for the help we need to help us get and stay sober.
  • We need not to be embarrassed of our addiction to alcohol.

What Steps Are You Taking To Get Clean And Sober

So many people in the world have an addiction to alcohol, but they are too afraid to stop for many different reasons.  I know because I made every excuse in the world of why I didn't want to stop drinking alcohol, and told myself and others that I had No problem at all with my drinking of alcohol.

Who are we really fooling?  We are fooling no one but ourselves as we live in a world of denial day after day, month and year after year.  We are killing ourselves slow but sure.

If you have an addiction to alcohol what steps are you taking to get clean and sober?

First and foremost you must want to change your life and live it clean and sober before you can even think about long term sobriety.  If you don't have sobriety in your heart then you are fighting a losing battle.  If you are not willing to change, not only for yourself, but all those that love and care for you such as your spouse, family and friends you are going nowhere as far as getting and staying sober.

I can not stress enough in all of my writing how different my live has been since I surrendered to the demons that ran and almost ruined my life.  I had to stay up to the demons that had full control of my life and ruining my family's lives along the way.  The demons of alcohol don't care who the will destroy as they lurk in your body just waiting for the next drink of alcohol to be drank and when that drink doesn't come they make you the most miserable person to even deal with.  You know what I am talking about if you are a person that is addicted to alcohol.

HERE ARE THE STEPS I TOOK WHEN I DECIDED TO STOP DRINKING ALCOHOL FOREVER AND GET CLEAN AND SOBER.

  • First I had to get out of the denial I lived in and admit that I was an alcoholic and needed to get help to stop drinking whether it be Professional help or doing it own my own.
  • I had to get out of the poor me (negative attitude) I was in and change that attitude to a positive attitude, and keep it positive no matter what happened in my life from then on.
  • I needed to put my plan into action and not delay sobriety for one more day.
  • I made up my mind and picked my sober date which was (October 27, 2009).
  • I told my family and friends that was going to stop drinking alcohol and said it with pride and happiest.
  • I was proud of my decision to get clean and sober, and now it was the test of whether I could stay true to the promise to myself that I would never touch another drop of alcohol the rest of my life.
Sure many things happen in our lives that want to make you start drinking again (to so called ease the pain and fix the problems at hand), but believe me, alcohol fixes NOTHING!

I stuck to my promise that the demons of alcohol would be out of my life forever, and I am the type of person that never lies and especially never lie to myself.

The steps you should take are outlined above, but remember this is what I did to prepare for my sobriety.  You may have different ideas about how you should go about getting and staying sober,

Never the less, I wish you all the best of luck in finding your own peace in life and live that life of sobriety as I am right now.  Believe me, you will be so proud of yourself that you could beat the addiction to alcohol as I did.

Stay focused, Keep a Positive Attitude and Believe in yourself. If you think you need Professional Help to get sober, then please ask for the help you need to get sober in a safe and healthy way.  I was fortunate enough to be able to go cold turkey, but I was very afraid and I took a big chance of having a poor outcome or getting sick or possible close to death experience, so do it the right and safe way.

If you think you can go cold turkey, my prayers are with you, but if you doubt you can, PLEASE get the Professional Help so that you can get sober in a safe way.  Don't do as I did and take that huge chance of something horrible happening.

How Tinnitus Effects Your Life

This post is much different than the posts I do on alcohol  addiction.  This is about tinnitus (ringing of the ears) and how Tinnitus effects your life, as it has effected mine for the last 38 years.

Back when I was about 18 years old, a friend and myself decided to go to a quarry at the Jersey Shore and shoot a few boxes of ammo from a 357 magnum without any ear protection whatsoever.  A very stupid move on the both of us and something that would ruin my hearing for the rest of my life.

In the beginning we were having a great time shooting at tin cans and different things we could find in the quarry, such as bottles, wood and anything we could find that we could shoot at.

My friend and I had a bet on just who would be the best shooter with this high power pistol.  We continued to shoot and got into the second box of ammo when my ears started to bother me just a little bit, but I knew they were not feeling right.  So we stopped shooting the pistol for a half hour or so just to take a rest and rest our hurting ears.

We set up some new things to shoot at and opened the third box of bullets and began to shoot away.

After about 5 minutes I had to stop because me ears were killing me.  I had a wrangler jacket on, so I took it off and wrapped the sleeves around my hurting ears hoping it would help with the pain in my ears, but not knowing the damage had already been done to my ears.

We finished the last box of bullet and I have to say, my ears were hurting so bad.  My friend took me home to Long Beach Island where I was living with my parents for the summer.

By the time I got home I laid down on the couch and feel sound a sleep.  My mom woke me up a couple hours later to ask if I would like to have my dinner  and as she spoke, her voice sounded like Micky Mouse. I then knew I mess up my ears big time.

The sound of other people speaking to me for the next three to fours more days, was that sound of a high pitch Mickey Mouse voice.  The pain in my ears was unbelievable.

As the days passed the sound of other people's voices became to be more normal sounding, but the ringing in my ears never went away and is still there 38 years later.  24/7 I hear high pitch continuous sounds that keeps me from getting to sleep each and every night.

After a month or so went by and there wasn't any relief in my ears I made a appointment with an Ears, Nose and Throat Doctor.

He examined me and gave me some test coming up with the conclusion that I damaged my ears so bad and now I will suffer with what he called "Tinnitus" probably for the rest of my life.  I damaged all the tiny hairs in my ears causing the constant ringing in my ears (Tinnitus).

Recently I found on the web an article that has changed so many people's lives that suffer from Tinnitus.  The system is called, "Tinnitus Miracle" - The Only Clinically Proven 5-Step Holistic System For Curing and Preventing Tinnitus Permanently.  Read this amazing system and what it has done for so many people in curing their Tinnitus.
