The Best Things In Life Are Not Things

Material things, what many people in the world think are the best in life.  I have nothing against the finest things in life, but the best things in life are not things by no means.  This is of course is my own opinion.

Ever since I got sober in October of 2009 I realized that life itself is the best thing in life, and not having expensive material things.  Many may call me crazy for not wanting the best of things in life, but I have learned that material things don't make me a happy person and they may not make you happy either if you really think about it.

In my opinion, the best thing in life is to live my life clean and sober.  That is what makes me a happy person, knowing that I have beat the inner demons that took control of my life for so many years.

Just stop and look around you a see what life has to offer you such as a beautiful sunrise or that breathe taking sunset in which there is not one the same.  I go to the bay each night and watch the sunset and take that photo that will only be one of it's kind.  That in my opinion is worth everything in life.  To see what God has made, and to enjoy that breathe taking views even if it is for a few minutes.

These imagines are something that money cannot ever buy. So see, money can't buy everything right?

I usually write about alcohol addiction and the ways I was able to get clean and sober using my positive attitude and the strong will within to make it happen, but in this article I just wanted to point out that there is more to life than having the best of everything and using material things to make you happy.

These sites that God has created are (entirely free) and we all take them for granted, in my opinion, at least I did when I drank.

Stop for a moment each day and look into the sky for that breathe taking site.  It takes only a second of your day.

As far as myself, when I drank alcohol these things were not important.  I did see them, but never really thought about how beautiful life was, because alcohol was more important at that time, sorry to say.

The main thing I am trying to say is not to take everything for granted in life.  I found that living with sobriety in my life, my life has become the best ever.  I have everything I once wanted, but couldn't not achieve because of my addiction to alcohol.

Alcohol held me back in many ways, meaning I knew what I wanted in life, but could not achieve them due to putting my addiction to alcohol before all else.

How To Face Your Inner Demons

Have you ever had something or someone in your life that you were scared to death to face?  How afraid are you to face that situation?  There is one thing many people that are addicted to alcohol are afraid to face and that is their addiction and the demons that lie deep with in them.

You have to be a strong and determined person to know how to face your inner demons.  Many of us learn the hard way and then there are those that nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand. The sad part is that we don't know what to expect when we decide to get clean and sober and are scared to death to live without our crutch and addiction by our side.  I know I was so afraid of how my body would react with the absence of alcohol and I am very sure every person with an addiction that wants to get sober feels the same.

We all have to learn to face our demons and addictions head on and not let anything or anyone stand in the way of us achieving long term sobriety.  I know it sounds easier said than done, but if you want a better life for you and your family you have to face this addiction problem head on and full force.

First and foremost, you have to want to change your life and get clean and sober in order to face your demons.  If you are not ready to stop drinking all together and completely then it will hard to face anything including your inner demons.

Be stronger than your addiction and stop letting your demons and addiction run and ruin your one and only life you have. Anything can be achieved in life including sobriety if you really want it bad enough.

Look at yourself, you are getting tired and more depressed each and everyday.  You think you are nothing in this world we live and no one even cares about you so why not just drink alcohol to ease the pain.  Don't run from your problems and turn to alcohol to try and solve them because I can tell you, "IT WILL NOT WORK", it only makes matters much worse.

So if you really want sobriety in your life again then I would advise you to stand up for who you are and stop drinking or using.  Stand up to your inner demons and start living the clean life like you were meant to do.

What Steps Are Needed To Getting Clean And Sober

There are so many people that have an addiction to alcohol in our world today.  Sad to say, but so very true.  You have no idea just how many people suffer from alcoholism and want a better life , but have no idea how to go about getting that life of sobriety.

They are caught up in the world of addiction with nowhere to turn, or should I say, they choose not to change for the fear of how their life would be without their crutch.

What steps are needed to getting clean and sober?

Step #1 -  First and most important, the alcoholic needs to want to be clean and sober and not get sober because someone is forcing it on them.  They have to want sobriety so bad that they are willing to do anything to get their life back on track and get sober.

Step #2 - They have to get out of the denial they have been living in and finally admit to them self that they are indeed an alcoholic and need help to get clean and sober.  I think once the alcoholic admits there is a huge problem with them and their family life, in which is totally effected by the actions of the addicted person, things will begin to make more sense of why they should try their hardest to surrender to their addiction to alcohol.

Step #3- They have to look at their life and how they are living it in comparison to the way they lived before getting addicted to this horrible addiction we call alcoholism.  They must see for themselves that they are destroying their bodies and their family as well.

Step#4 - They need to visualize how their life can be living it sober.  Once they can see that their future can be brighter they may then just surrender to their addiction to alcohol.  All they have to do is to look around them and see for them self who is avoiding them.  People that may have been close friends and falling distant because of the poor life style the alcoholic has could be the reason they steer away and avoid being around the alcoholic. The alcoholic can surely see that something is missing in their life and without changing their life they might just lose everything they have over time including their own life.  Addictions are nothing to mess with.  It is like holding a loaded gun and playing Russian Roulette.  Sooner or later you will pull the trigger and the one single bullet in the chamber will be fired.

Step#5-  The alcoholic needs to take a good hard look at their spouse and children a see just how his/her addiction is also effecting them and ruining their lives as well.  You really have to be blind not to see that your bad habits effect many people, not only yourself.

Step #6- The alcoholic needs to change his/her outlook in life and stop feeling sorry for them self and start doing something about it and then take massive action to get sober if they truly want to be free of their addiction once and for all.  Sobriety is out there for all.  It will not come to you.  You need to go after it and shut down the demons inside of you that run and ruin all those addicted in time.  The only way to beat you addiction is to SURRENDER to it.

Step#7- Tell yourself and promise yourself that you will never pick up another alcoholic drink the rest of your life.  If you can hold true to this promise to yourself then you are serious about getting clean and sober.  So now, all you have to do is to JUST DO IT and don't look back.  Run as fast as you can from your addiction.  Never be weak and let your demons back into your life no matter what happens, whether it be bad or good.  Don't back down or give in because something may have happened to upset you and feel as if you need to drink to fix the problem because believe me it won't work.

Step#8- Keep a Positive Attitude towards get sober.  Believe in yourself.  Tell yourself no matter what happens in your life you WILL NOT relapse. Stay strong.  Keep determined to stay clean and sober forever.  Stay busy physically and mentally.  Take up a hobby that you are interested in.  Spend quality time with your family. If you feel uneasy at a party that is serving alcohol, don't go!  Stay clear of all those that are still drinking alcohol and partying. ( These people just may try and shame you into drinking again, but don't give in.)  Just walk away and say NO THANKS.  You know those words, "MISERY LOVES COMPANY"  Don't be the company.  Be stronger than your addiction and with all this and the determination and desire to get and stay sober you should have no problem getting clean and sober.  It's all in the mind and that mind you have can do miraculous things if you let it, so lets get sober and stay sober!!

Living Life Sober And To The Fullest

If you are addicted to drugs or alcohol, you don't know what you're missing out on living life sober and to the fullest.

Living your life sober is such a wonderful thing, speaking for someone such as myself, that was addicted to alcohol for many years, and to live life to the fullest is something many of us do not even try to do or maybe we just don't know how.

I have to say from my own experiences drinking alcohol just how I was letting life slip away and really never even realized what was happening.  Being a drug addict or an alcoholic we tend to only have one thing that is more important than anything else, and that is our addiction.

All of us are smart enough to know that we are all here on earth just one time so, you had better make the best of every minute of your life while you are here.  Live sober and live your life to the fullest every chance you get, because you never know what tomorrow will bring to you.

I have learned so much about life over the last two years being clean and sober that it is hard to even explain all the wonderful feelings inside I have and all the great things that have happened to me, my wife and my family, and all because I changed my outlook on life. The biggest thing was I finally surrendered to my addiction to alcohol.  Those demons will never run and try to ruin my life ever again and this should go for every drug addict or alcoholic.  Take a stand in your life and surrender to your inner demons.

I know it sounds easy when I word it that way right, but believe it or not it is very easy only if you truly want to live life sober and live it to the fullest.

If you think you are ready to surrender to your addiction or having any worries of the addiction that captured your life, then do something about it.  So many people worry about their health, and I was one of those people.  If you are so worried about your health and your life then why is it so hard to quit drinking alcohol or using drugs?  I bet you don't have an answer for that question, except that you will say, "well I am addicted to drugs or alcohol and there is now way out of my addiction."  Does this sound familiar to you, because it sure does to me.

There is always a way out of an addiction only if you are ready to change your life for the better and surrender to that addiction.  Until you are fully ready and finally get out of denial and admit you have a serious problem you are going to be stuck right where you are drinking and using, unfortunately.

We all have the the strength, the power and the brain to figure out anything.  The problem is, that so many of us are just happy with our life and the way we are living it now.  I think these people are just afraid to change the lives or too lazy to work on the addiction and start a new life clean and sober.

If you have the willingness, the desire and the determination to get clean and sober than you are taking that first step towards finding sobriety.

I can tell you one thing, you maybe afraid of your health declining or your life being shortened by your addiction, BUT never be afraid of sobriety.  Being clean and sober is something that will help you live your life fuller in the end, so surrender and go for the life you deserve to have and enjoy the one and only life you have.

Tips On How To Get And Stay Sober

Here are some tips on how to get and stay sober through my own experiences with drinking alcohol and a little information on my life as an alcoholic.

Living a life with alcohol starts as a fun and exciting thing until all hell breaks loose, and the demons of alcohol have taken over our life as they did for me.  You begin to depend on alcohol more and more as you are partying and drinking by yourself as I did.  You can't go a day without having your drinks and getting the high your body longs for each and everyday.

Sure, I love to drink and have fun just as much or even more than the next guy, but it became a huge problem when I got addicted to the alcohol and didn't know how to get out the horrible life I was now living in.

I neglected my family, my friends and even neglected myself, because the only thing I had on my mind is getting that first drink in me right after work and drank until it was time to go to bed.  It became the new love of my life, and I knew I was doing wrong, but my body depended on me feeding the alcohol everyday.

I felt as if there was no way out of the addiction to alcohol I had.  As time went by I became more embarrassed and a shame of my addiction to alcohol and knew people were talking about me and my horrible life I was leading, but it still wasn't enough to make me stop drinking alcohol.

I would never want to go to any family functions unless there was alcohol served, and if there wasn't alcohol I would hide some in my car and sneak out on my smoke break and have a fast can of beer.  When I think of all these things now being clean and sober, I can't believe that I was so weak and couldn't beat the addiction I had.

These reason I couldn't beat my addiction was that I simply wasn't ready to surrender to my addiction.  No matter what anyone would tell me I wouldn't listen or did I care for that matter.

I am now sober 2 years tomorrow, October 27, 2011 and want to share what i have learned and how I surrendered to my addiction on my own, with no 12 step, no rehab. and no meetings.  Not everyone can do as I have done, because many alcoholics need to enter a Rehab.Center to be treated professionally and start their detox under Medical supervision.

TIPS ON HOW I GOT AND STAYED SOBER:

  1. First and foremost, you need to want to get sober!
  2. If you are a negative person, you need to get a positive attitude.
  3. If need be, you have to ask for help.
  4. You have to admit you are an alcoholic and you need and want help.
  5. You have to have the willingness and determination to get sober.
  6. You cannot let anything or anyone stand in you way of sobriety.
  7. You may need to steer clear of anyone you associated with while drinking alcohol.
  8. You may have to find sober friends.
  9. You have to look at your future as an alcoholic and compare that to a life of sobriety.
  10. There is only one way to stop drinking alcohol and that is to JUST QUIT!
These are a few things that helped me get and stay sober and I hope these ideas and true facts will help you find your way out of your addiction and live a life of sobriety as I have done.

Sobriety is so possible for anyone that is addicted to alcohol.  All you need to do is to want sobriety back into your life so bad that you are willing to do anything to get it back.

BELIEVE AND YOU WILL ACHIEVE!

Facing Your Demons Head On

All of us have had to face something in our lives that were not to happy to do.  Some of us have done something wrong and had to stand up a face the problem.  We are very nervous because we don't know what the out come will be.

Many of us such as myself have had those problems and also one other, "Our Demons".  In my case, my demons, or should I say my past friends had almost ruined my life, my family and all of the dreams I had.

I could have lost everything all do to Alcohol Addiction, something that could of been avoided only if I had the strength and the willpower to do so.

With many years of drinking under my belt and still feeling in good health I thought that I was indestructible.  I was very fortunate that I never had any health problem all those years.  But, sooner or later everything catches up with us one way or another.

What caught up with me was that I was on the verge of losing everything I had, including my wife and family all do to selfishness on my part.  I knew I was doing wrong in my life but I just could not Give Up Alcohol.
