How To Make Your Dreams A Reality

Everyone dreams in the world, but the question is "how to make your dreams a reality?" We all have dreams when we sleep.  Some dreams we may not remember, and then there are those that stick in our minds as we wake up and we tell others what kind of dream we had during our sleep.

Some of those dreams maybe happy and some maybe a plain nightmare that wakes you out of a sound sleep, shaking, sweating and your heart pounding out of your chest.

Then of course all of us have those dreams while we are awake.  Dreams of having the best of everything, and dreams of living near, or on the white sandy beaches of that one spot you love in your life.

This is me making that one dream I had my entire life a reality.  Living near the white sandy beaches of Long Beach Island, New Jersey.

The Ocean is only a few minutes from my home and where I live is out of harms way of floods and Hurricanes.  I am not saying a hurricane would not harm my home and where I live because I lived through two hurricanes since I moved here at the Jersey shore two years ago. The best thing is that we had no flood damage, but plenty of Hurricanes force winds.

Getting back to how you can make those dreams you have a reality.  Everyone like I said have had dreams of what you truly want out of the one and only life you have here on Earth.  The problem is that so many people that have these dreams do not pursue them and keep them as just a big dream in life.

As for me, I had that dream of living near the Ocean and I sat down with my wife on many occasions trying to figure out just how to make that dream we had become a reality. One day my wife came up with this brilliant idea, and that idea was to downsize and sell everything we had to get rid of the bills that would haunt us for many years to come.

Yes, selling of my toys, such as my Corvette, my motorcycle and then the house that I just remodeled and the home that I was raised in as a child.  That was the hardest thing I could ever done, because this home belonged to my parents.  The only home they owned in their married life.

When they both passed away the home was left to me.  At that time I lived in another home with my wife and children and and when my parents passed away I had make a decision to stay where I was living or selling that home and moving back into my childhood home.

We decided to move back into my childhood home and remodeled it to our liking figuring this would be the last move in our life.  We still had the Ocean back in our minds at that time and as I said, after about 5 years living and remodeling this childhood home we decided to sell it and move to the Ocean.

We made this decision as a joint one and agreed that we needed to make our dream a reality once and for all.

Long Beach Island Our New Home

These are only material things.

Yes my toys are all sold, but they can be bought again one day. The plate on the Vette reads, "LIVON" and that is exactly what we are doing in our life. Live on and make that dream a reality.

We thought positive and did everything we could do in order to live at the shore.  We sold my childhood home and downsize to a double wide modular home in a 55 + Community.  No garage and nowhere near the room we had in the home I sold, but living life simple now makes us much happier than we have ever been.

If you have a dream in life, don't hesitate to make it happen because as I said, we are only here on Earth for a short time, so make the best of it and make those dreams you have become a reality.  You will never be sorry.

If you need to sell everything you have top make you a happier person then remember they are only material things and can one day be re-bought if you choose to do so.  For me, it is cash only and no more credit cards that will haunt is to the end of time.  My home I live in now, although small, but we remodeled this one too, and it is paid in full.
Here is the side of our new place. total remodel inside and out.

The Best Things In Life Are Not Things

Material things, what many people in the world think are the best in life.  I have nothing against the finest things in life, but the best things in life are not things by no means.  This is of course is my own opinion.

Ever since I got sober in October of 2009 I realized that life itself is the best thing in life, and not having expensive material things.  Many may call me crazy for not wanting the best of things in life, but I have learned that material things don't make me a happy person and they may not make you happy either if you really think about it.

In my opinion, the best thing in life is to live my life clean and sober.  That is what makes me a happy person, knowing that I have beat the inner demons that took control of my life for so many years.

Just stop and look around you a see what life has to offer you such as a beautiful sunrise or that breathe taking sunset in which there is not one the same.  I go to the bay each night and watch the sunset and take that photo that will only be one of it's kind.  That in my opinion is worth everything in life.  To see what God has made, and to enjoy that breathe taking views even if it is for a few minutes.

These imagines are something that money cannot ever buy. So see, money can't buy everything right?

I usually write about alcohol addiction and the ways I was able to get clean and sober using my positive attitude and the strong will within to make it happen, but in this article I just wanted to point out that there is more to life than having the best of everything and using material things to make you happy.

These sites that God has created are (entirely free) and we all take them for granted, in my opinion, at least I did when I drank.

Stop for a moment each day and look into the sky for that breathe taking site.  It takes only a second of your day.

As far as myself, when I drank alcohol these things were not important.  I did see them, but never really thought about how beautiful life was, because alcohol was more important at that time, sorry to say.

The main thing I am trying to say is not to take everything for granted in life.  I found that living with sobriety in my life, my life has become the best ever.  I have everything I once wanted, but couldn't not achieve because of my addiction to alcohol.

Alcohol held me back in many ways, meaning I knew what I wanted in life, but could not achieve them due to putting my addiction to alcohol before all else.

Living Sober At The Jersey Shore

This has been a long time coming in my life and my wife's life as well.  I am now living sober at the Jersey Shore.

Living a life of alcoholism for many years held me back on so many things I wanted to do in my life and the 30 years of my marriage suffered along with my actions and being addicted to alcohol.

Now, I have beat the addiction that has run and almost ruined my life for so many years using the pure determination and a positive attitude has helped me become clean and sober and has helped me stay clean and sober.

Sobriety has changed my life and believe me if you are thinking about changing your life as I did, you will never be sorry that you did.

It is so much thinking and planing, but I did it and so can you.  When I say thinking and planning I mean, you need to ask yourself if you truly want to be sober and live a life of sobriety because if you are not serious about getting clean and sober you are wasting your time.

I wasted time so many times when I was only fooling myself by saying I will only drink alcohol on weekends and special Holidays.  I have to tell you that it never worked.  For me, it was to surrender completely or continue on the path of self destruction.  I was one that could have one or two drinks and walk away, so I need to quit drinking alcohol all together.  That was the plan I needed to think about.  Did I really want to be sober?

My answer to myself was, " I want to be sober again."  I made up my mind and chose my start date to begin my road to recovery and stuck to it and here I am 2 years later, still sober, healthy and happier than I have ever been in my life.

My wife and I are now living our dream at the Jersey Shore and minutes from the Ocean and Bay.  This is what we have wanted our whole married life, but alcohol put a stop to all our dream and goals.

It goes to show you when there is a will there is a way.  I had the will to surrender to my addiction to alcohol and I then was able to make our dream a reality.  Sobriety is possible in any alcoholics life if and only if the alcoholic is willing to make that change in his/her life.  If you put your mind to it and start thinking and having a positive attitude you can and will beat your addiction, but the biggest and hardest thing is, you need to want sobriety and need to have the determination, strength and willpower to get and stay sober once and for all.

DREAMS CAN COME TRUE

All my life I aways had big dreams.  To own a huge house over looking the water with a dock and a nice boat.Or, over looking the beautiful ocean and the smell of salt air and the warm breeze blowing through my hair.
My parents always told me I had rich taste. I guess I got that from my mothers side of the family, because her relatives owned a castle in England, with servants and maids.  That is were I get the rich taste, I guess.

So, my story is that in the last almost 3 months I have been sober, and with the sobriety I can now think straight and have my head together to try and live these big dreams that I could not get before sobriety.  I am on a path to achieve these high goals I have.  First, by going to school to get my realtor licience , and sell some great properties in the shore area and get those big commissions too. Not a over night job, but it is possible in the near future. My father and uncle sold home and did very well.  I know the business of homes only because I have built a few of them with my father in-law from start to finish, including concrete, framing and everything that goes with house building.  So, I have that part  conquered  and I know what to look for in finding a great home for a buyer.

Second, is to retire from the job I have now, which is a Manager for a large Cemetery and Crematory in New Jersey.  I have been working in that field for about 24 years and before that I worked at a hospital for 10 years..In my opinion that is about enough of that kind of work for me. I have seen it all and have done it all, and don't want to see it or do it anymore.  It's time for my big dream to come true!  People say how in the world can you do that kind of work. I tell them first, you have to be caring and kind to the people you serve because they come into the office grieving of their loss and it is my job to try the best I can to comfort them. I must say I am great at that and I will be great in the selling of homes. I have a lot of confidence in myself now being sober and also a clear mind to get those big dreams and make them a reality.
